February in the recession year 2009 has come to an end and
it's friday. But do we have anything to celebrate? Industry workers among
others are organizing protests,
forcing governments to resign, culminating in riots and murder. In the
news today, the small country Sweden in the north of Europe, GNP
decreased 4.9% (!) Q4 2008 (SCB) and unemployment reached 6.2%
(SCB). So, does anyone think
1930s..? (Update) The US economy shrunk by a
whopping 6.2% in the last three months, but grew 1.1% for the full year.
Comparing with the data above, Sweden did a little bit better - but both
numbers are really bad.
